Current Research

- In my research I am looking at problems in a number of areas.
- Robustness :
My general interest is to find robust procedures in various settings, including longitudinal analysis, non-linear regression, spectral estimation, meta-analysis and extreme value models. Am also interested in developing methods for constructing and evaluating robust confidence intervals and tests.
- Molecular Biology:
Am interested in developing reliable inference methods in phylogeny where we estimate trees. In particular am looking at methods for constructing confidence regions and tests of tree structure. This work is being done as part of Genome Atlantic.
On a slightly longer term, am working with others on models for lateral gene transfer.
- Saddlepoint Approximations
Have a continuing interest in using saddlepoint methods to evaluate tail areas accurately in multi-dimensional problems. It is often of interest to carry out these approximations empirically and it is important to assess the accuracy of the intervals.
