Basic Information

Textbook

The textbook for the course is "A First Course in Abstract Algebra" by John P. Fraleigh, 7th edition, published by Addison Wesley. This is the textbook that was used last year so there may be some second hand copies available. Also earlier editions of it have been used in previous years and it may be possible to find used copies of these. The book is intended as a reference, and the course does not follow it very closely. The assignments for the course will not be taken from those in the book.

Final grades in Math 3030 will be calculated as follows:

Lectures

The following material has been covered in the lectures. Two digit numbers refer to sections in the textbook, three digit numbers refer to sections in the notes handed out.

Assignments

These links will become active as material is assigned in class.

Final Exam

The final examination will be scheduled by the registrar's office.
