This course is cross listed as both an undergraduate and a graduate course. There will be one or more additional questions on most problem sets for students registered in the graduate version of the course (Math 5045) and there will be an additional section on the final exam. Graduate students continuing in the PhD program wishing the final exam in this course to count as part of the non-specialist algebra comprehensive exam should discuss this with the instructor and the graduate coordinator within the first two weeks of the course. There are separate regulations covering the marking of the exam in that case and the minimum passing grade for an exam to count as part of the comprehensive exam is not the same as the minimum passing grade in the course. For further details please see pages 33-34 in the department guide to graduate programs.<\P>
